This coming Sunday is a day set aside for mothers. Why? Because it's Mother's Day; however, shouldn't we be thankful for our mothers every day? My mother and I were very close and I cherish the memories that we shared before her passing. I realize there are those children out there that might not have had the type of relationship that I had with my mother and it is my prayer that relationships that are broken can be healed on this special day! While looking through Scripture I came across these verses found in Proverbs 31:25-28a that stated: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed.” (NIV) To all of you that have been blessed to be called "Mother" this is truly a joyous day of celebration.

There is an old saying that goes like this: "With April showers comes May flowers." How true this statement is. While driving to Bible study the other day I noticed all the blossoming trees, shrubs and flowers with their brilliant colors. God in all His majesty makes this happen year after year. Doesn't this help brighten your day? It sure does mine, especially after the winter doom and gloom that we see here in the state of Washington. We are lucky to live in the Tri-Cities area because we get a lot more sunshine compared to the Seattle area; but, our area still looks pretty gloomy because unless you planted evergreen plants and trees everything looks dead in the winter. Then here comes God with his paint brush and everything starts to bloom and the gorgeous colors of His creation come alive. What a magical time of year. As it states in Psalms 7:1 -- “O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust…” (KJV) I do trust Him to do His magic in our world and in lives. He has changed my life, just as He changes the area surrounding my home here on earth; day after day, after day. To God be the Glory! Take notice and let Him "Brighten Your Day!"

Received the following quote from a dear friend. It was too good not to share it with all of you. It reads: "Hi Lord, it's me. We are getting older and things are getting bad here. Gas prices are too high, many have no jobs, food and heating costs are too high. I know some have taken you out of our schools, government and even Christmas; but, Lord I'm asking you to come back and re-bless America. We really need you! There are more of us who want you than those who don't. Thank you, Lord. I love you." Then it reads: "Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil - it has no point." How true!

We are facing a financial crisis, and even our best leaders are unable to turn things around. With unemployment at 8.2% we still have enough money to spend over twenty-five million dollars in one weekend to go see a movie, or millions of dollars to go to a sporting event. Presenters at the Oscars are given $20,000.00 "gift bags" and, in addition, millions of dollars to star in a movie. Sports figures are given multi-million dollar contracts to entertain us. What do our homeless and unemployed think when they see money being thrown away on many things that are really not necessary to sustain one's self? The price of gasoline for our vehicles is soaring. With so many people out of work and now with all those that have suffered through the recent tornadoes how can a person not lose hope? What do they do to lift their spirits? Is it hopeless? I pray not. I pray that those that are less fortunate will remember what Martha Cook said, "In some way or other the Lord will provide; it may not be my way, it may not be thy way, and yet in His own way, the Lord will provide." I have to believe that my Heavenly Father will provide. Maybe not in MY time; but, in HIS time we will get through this crisis. So do not lose hope, we will recover; only by the sheer Grace of God. Remember, with God all things are possible!

When I read the article below my heart went out to these people. As a disabled woman I have felt like the silent majority many times. I hate to think that this is what it takes to bring the disabled to people's attention. I know things for the disabled in the United States are far better than in countries outside the U.S.; however, it's still going to take years for everybody to comply to our own laws. Please read the article below and let me know what you think.
Reported by BBC on February 24, 2012: Dozens of disabled people have clashed with police in Bolivia during a protest calling for higher state subsidies. Several protesters were hurt as they tried to break through a police cordon in the country's main city of La Paz. Riot police used pepper spray to prevent the demonstrators from entering the presidential square. The protesters - who had made a 100-day trek to La Paz - wanted an annual state subsidy of about $400 (£254). They currently receive about 30% of that.
The caravan of about 50 disabled protesters - many in wheelchairs or on crutches - covered more than 1,500km (932 miles), living off the charity of people they met on the way. In La Paz, the demonstrators were met by the riot police, who blocked off a street towards the presidential square. The protesters then tried to break through, hitting officers with sticks and crutches. Domitila Franco, who uses a wheelchair, told the BBC she was struggling to make ends meet. "It's very hard to be a person with a disability. Even our own husbands abandon us because they feel ashamed of us. I look after my four children alone, washing and ironing clothes for people, and doing whatever I can," she said. Living with a disability in Bolivia is not easy, especially if you are poor, the BBC Mattia Cabitza reports. Most buildings are not accessible to wheelchairs, and people with disabilities often cannot go to work or school, our correspondent adds.

What a glorious day! Valentine's Day. A day we show love to our family and friends. My only question is: "Shouldn't we do this every day?" I sure do hope so. It states in John 13:34-35, "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (KJV) So when today is over continue to LOVE each other on a daily basis the way our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ love us.
Blessings to all, Sharon
I received the following from a friend of mine and had to share it with all of you.
It is titled: Here is a new way to look at a Deck of Cards!
It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard. The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week. As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk. Just then an army sergeant came in and said, 'Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?" The soldier replied, "I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord."
The sergeant said, "Looks to me like you're going to play cards."
The soldier said, "No, sir. You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of card."
The sergeant asked in disbelief, "How will you do that?"
"You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God.
The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments.
The Three represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.
The Four stands for the Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
The Five is for the five virgins there were ten but only five of them were glorified.
The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.
The Seven is for the day God rested after making His Creation.
The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives -- the eight people God spared from the flood that destroyed the Earth..
The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy. He cleansed ten, but nine never thanked Him.
The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.
The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of Heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.
The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.
The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.
When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.
There are a total of 52 cards in a deck; each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.
The four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
Each suit has thirteen cards -- there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.
So when I want to talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for."
The sergeant just stood there. After a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, "Soldier, can I please borrow that deck of cards?"
Continue to pray for all of our soldiers that are putting their lives on the line daily to keep us safe.
Blessings, Sharon
